Greg's Cobra Build with modifications.

Hi all, thought I'd share some photos of where I'm up to at the moment. The Shelby Cobra 427 S/C is my all time favourite car, I've found the quality great so far, but really wanted to add some more to it. So here's where I'm up to at the moment. IMG_3689.thumb.JPG.4753bc808118b2c76b3c432333cfbee5.JPGIMG_3701.thumb.JPG.6f1b23a5496a6d90a206f57dac0aa9f0.JPG

I repainted the carburettor and added further detail in. I also sanded down the bath tub and repainted it so I could loose the mould lines.

I worked on the alternator a bit too. Repainted it and added in micro hex bolts. Also fabricated in an oil dipstick.

I replaced all the visible cross head screws with micro hex bolts, nuts and washers. Repainted the pulleys, hollowed out the slit in the alternator arm and added detail to the distributor.

Applied a gloss coat to the rocker covers and added in the cork gasket seals.

I added terminal wires to the ignition coil, the terminals were done with micro 0.6mm hex bolts and nuts.

Decided to go with blue for the transmission and flywheel housing.

Some more views of the dipstick

Some weathering and detail painting on the block

And here's where I am at the moment. The rogue wire is from the ignition coil and when I can I'll incorporate into the wiring loom of the car.

A bit more on my Cobra build. Tackled the manifolds. I'm planning to repaint the exhausts and add some heat staining, but in order to add some variety to the overall look of the engine and to be different I guess. I decided to go for wrapped manifolds, not everyone's cup of tea I know, but I really like it. I did this with physio/medical plaster tape, I'd be happy to explain more if people would like.

Been a while, but finally getting back onto my Cobra build.

Firstly I decided to tackle the breaks and shocks, so gave them a paint job and added some extra detail to the callipers.

Next up was the rear diff and drive shafts which also got treated to a new paint job.

For good measure I also repainted the prop shaft and the black plastic bulkheads were given a more aluminium look.

More to come soon.

Hi Greg,

I'm late in following your build and just caught up. Seriously nice work there. Awesome that you are using miniature bolts and replacing the phillips head screws when possible. I do the same and it makes a model look so much better.

Looking at the picture of the transmission it looks like the tubing/hoses end in banjo fittings. Are you familiar with RBMotion? He does custom aluminum fittings and other goodies for model builders. Very nice fittings and reasonably priced. He does banjo fittings - link below - that would be perfect for your kit.

I've ordered from him over the years and his work is top notch.

Keep up the great work,

wyatt
