  1. I’m subscribed to it, but haven’t received any parts yet
  2. I’m not building the Bismarck, but I’ll answer anyways. I do both. I weather as I go, thinking mostly about what will be hard to access later. And then I weather again later, as more parts are applied, to get a more genuine final appearance. If I were to build the Bismarck, I imagine I would probably weather turrets and all the smaller junk on the deck while building. Then, I would probably come back later to weather big common areas like the deck itself, or the hull, the thought being that different sections will blend together better if weathered together.

I know I’m not addressing the exact issue here, but as an American who imports partworks from UK, Italy, and France, I can tell you I’ve seen those kinds of gaps in delivery updates consistently. I will have no idea whether a package is coming in 7 days, or 21 more days. The courier tracking will simply randomly stop updating, usually at some border or customs checkpoint, and then nada, until one day my package will randomly show up. So that having been said, I’m not sure how much power Agora really has in the matter. It seems to simply be a part of the messy nature of importing. Although again, I know that doesn’t address all of the issues being mentioned in this thread, and do generally agree that more communication is better than less.
  4. Yeah I watched that too. I was trying to watch the Chiefs game when signal on that station temporarily went out, and I switched to the Mecum auction just in time to watch this roll across the block. It was pretty incredible to watch. I actually recorded a clip on my phone, so if ever some day I’m an old grandfather, I can show my grandkids cool videos of cool cars setting record high auction prices...the history that really matters lol.
  5. Mark and Matt, I agree with you guys. The attention to detail just doesn’t seem to be there. And not to come off like a jerk, just speaking candidly, I could really care less that lasers or infrared were used to make sure the body shape is accurate to within 0.01mm, if big opportunities for accuracy are going to be overlooked when it comes to all the other details. Yes, I want my body mold to be accurate, but to paint a picture, I would never perfectly restore the body of 300 SL Gullwing, to flawless paint perfection, only to cheap out on the interior or the engine bay. If I ever get to restore a 300 SL Gullwing, you bet your rear end I’ll be restoring the entire car, down to nuts, bolts, and washers. I build my models with the same principle in mind. I’m sure you guys saw the bashing that happened with some of the paint jobs that were shipped from other part work suppliers, particularly the bad rep that the mismatched body panels on the Eaglemoss DB5 got, and saw a great opportunity to, “avoid being those guys,” simply by offering high quality paint finishes on your models. So while, yes, we do want good paint jobs (afterall, a comma in the price tag kinda demands it) that doesn’t mean we want JUST a shiny flawless shell, covering a bunch of mildly realistic plastic bits. On the contrary, I think we want high quality paint jobs AND high quality details. Not sure it’s a, “this or that” debate at $1,000+ pricetag Mimic MFH and old school Pocher kits, and you’ll have a die hard fan with me. But I’m not privy to your sales stats or your overall business model, so perhaps my desires are just too much of a niche for you guys to make any money. I could totally see that being the case, and can’t fault you for doing what needs to be done to keep the doors open.
  6. Well, I pulled the trigger. Excited to see what starts showing up next month.
  7. I'm much more into real track or road cars than I am "movie" cars, but Chitty Chitty Bang Bang could be an exception to that for me. It would have to have old school Pocher level detail though. I'm talking real metal, hex screws, and the like. No exposed phililps heads are gonna get me to spend $1000+ on a fantasy car model.
  8. I totally agree on the rare and WOW factor. What’s funny though, is I feel the same way about the Cobra haha. I live in the states, and grew up in the muscle car hungry Midwest, so I’ve seen so many freaking Shelby Cobras. Now obviously, most were probably kits or replicas, but alas, from 30 feet away, who can really tell. I’ve only seen a couple E-type Jags that I can recall, so to me, that is a rare, WOW factor car. I second everything you said! I seek the detail seen in vintage Pocher kits, or new MFH kits. Honestly, if covid hadn’t hit, I would probably be done with partworks. They are frankly, quite under detailed, in my minimal experience. Although, Centauria seems to up the ante a bit, based on the few parts I’ve so far collected. The photos of the F1 kits, that I think were rebranded Kyosho, seem better detailed as well. I second the Ferrari sentiment, and to say, loud and clear, that I am aware of the licensing issues with Ferrari, and can only ASSUME that a few extra dollars might be required to facilitate such a license, and I AM OKAY WITH THAT. Do what you gotta do to get what the people want, and share the costs across the board. And as for more realistic details, YES! I’m not proud to admit how much I’ve spent collecting aftermarket details for the DeAg Jag. And frankly, when I think about the total cost of kit + details, it is quite ridiculous. I certainly wont do it for all kits, so don’t get any ideas about trying to milk extra Agora 😉. Having said that, I seemed to notice the improved seat design the the teaser photo, and frankly, that’s where most of my enthusiasm came from. I am ASSUMING that Agora has improved the details in this model, and that makes me happy. Hopefully, those details went deeper than an easy facelift.
  9. I see your point, and I’m sure others will be disappointed too. I’m not. I’m currently about halfway through collecting the DeAg Jag, and have only barely started building it. And although I would normally go for as much variety as possible, this, to me, is different enough to warrant building alongside the coupe. And I mean, c’mon, red and green, on display next to one another!? I think it would look great. Honestly, I was only planning to maaaaaybe add one more part work subscription to my ongoing list this year. Now, I’m really looking hard at the Zero and the Jag. I think they could have done worse. At least it’s not a little Fiat. And then again, I’m sure there’s somebody else out there who would LOVE a little red Fiat. At the end of the day, to each their own.
  10. Yes, I would out a T Bird high on my build list
  11. Very exciting. I’ll be checking back tomorrow
  12. Thanks for sharing! This is an interesting release for sure.
  13. Prinoth Snow Groomer? Man...I've always wanted...one..of...yeah no.
  14. I like the highly detailed/operational surfaces/lighting idea. I even enjoy building an accurate scale airframe, knowing that it’ll mostly hidden unless you cut away panels. Accuracy is what it’s all about to me. However, I pretty much only build military planes. Commercial planes just all more or less look the same, and don’t really do much for me...Long white tubes with a logo on the side and some slanted wings. The only exceptions to that may be some of the unique old school passenger planes like the DC-3 or Ford Tri-Motor.
  15. Personally, not really my cup of tea. I pretty much just stick to the good ol’ transportation models...cars, planes, maybe a ship or railroad or two.
  16. Well Mark, I don't want to spoil too much for you, and I could certainly be way off on my own guess, but if you look through the articles Agora has published so far, you can find a clue or two 😉 I hope my guess is right, because if it is, it's a model I would love to build.
  17. Thanks for sharing! I can’t wait to see your next update
  18. I can’t wait to see what else you are planning!

    Hi!

Hi Everyone! Congratulations on the new endeavor Liam! I am new to this whole idea of building large scale part work models, and I am very intrigued by your new offering. It sounds like efforts have been made to ensure a higher than standard level of accuracy and detail, and that is exactly what I look for when picking a new model. I’ve just subscribed to two other kits available in the US, though I wish I’d known about this new release first, as I would have preferred this to one of my other choices. Nonetheless, I suspect a few good build threads about this beautiful Shelby might be able to sway me to sign up for a third 😉 As for a little about me, I grew up building plastic model kits from the age of 3 onwards, switched primarily to building paper models (Halinski, GPM, etc) around the age of 10, and pretty much stopped all model building at the beginning of college, over 10 years ago. I now live in a rather small apartment in a big city, so the idea of not having to worry much about painting or other mess making has made these pre-painted kits very attractive offerings. I’m sure I will end up adding a few extra detailing bits here and there, and I’m already scouting for upgrade and trans-kits. But overall, the option to complete a model without needing to create an airbush station seems perfect for my current living situation. Thanks for welcoming me into the community! I look forward to learning and sharing with you all, and sincerely hope that this is the beginning of a great new source for finely detailed 1/8 cars. Please keep the teasers coming! edit: sorry if this was the wrong thread for such a long introduction. Is there a better subsection for this?
