I’m having real problems with the steering column. Wires broke. Resoldered but I’m not clear what movement of the stalk operates the switches. With the stalk pointing to the left, pull it back for horn, push down for indicators? Is that correct?

Not quite.  Push it in to sound the horn and pull it towards the steering wheel to switch on the front and rear lights.  A second pull will turn them off again.  

Have a look at the instructions at the end of Pack 12 as that gives full details of the electrical functions.
