Has anybody tried fitting the windscreen on the 917?

I cannot get it to fit properly - see picture.

I have spent a long time and a lot of messing about but it will not fit any better than the picture shows.

Have you tryed a heat gun being very light on how much you use on it but enough to start its expanding then hold it down into its mounting position till it cools?

It can be dangerous and unforgiving .I have used a heat gun to shape plastic and then plunge it in water. Your windshield is would NOT be a good practice piece though. It takes practice on scrap pieces before one feels confident. Before the heat gun try softening the plastic with hot water and shaping it.

I just did that step (83?) this morning and got roughly the same result. I guess I've got until I have to attach the front body to the chassis to work it out.

I'm also not particularly pleased with the headlight covers: I've managed to get them right several times now, but they tend to pop out of alignment if you even look at them sideways. (The headlights themselves are a rather poor fit as well...the screw flanges only sit flush without the covers in place. Note that I'm talking about the actual "glass" covers, not the film thingies that I decided to leave off anyway.)

Update on mine: a day of leaving the front body assembly sitting in the sun helped quite a bit on the windshield. So some heat obviously relaxes things a bit. Not really deliberate, it was just pushed back next to the window at the back of my worktable. Haven't looked at it yet this morning yet...hope it didn't spring back after a cool night.

The headlight covers were still twitchy, but that's a slightly different cause/effect.
