  1. Since the next project is already in the starting blocks, things are moving on quickly here, today the wheels. As I already wrote when building the wheels, the kit comes with 2 complete sets of tires and rims. A "simple" version with spokes made from etched parts and a regular version with single spokes. Since I'm presenting the car after racing, the simple wheels were just right for me. Nicely dirty and worn and the regular ones will be ready to change the wheels later. First of all, another picture of the 4 “simple” wheels It started with sanding the tread and gluing small stones into the profile. I was more brutal with the rear wheels; they should really reflect the fighting spirit on the track. The tire wear on my floor was nothing to sneeze at either. Now came the dirt, in some old pictures you can see that some of the wheels were completely black, I decided on a slightly milder version. When the model is finished, it looks absolutely harmonious to me. Sir Stirling Moss also seems happy. What do you all mean?
  2. Today I quickly finished the brake drums. The bags of the two editions The components of an edition Assembled and aged compared to kit And mounted on the vehicle.
  3. good morning, Since I'm not allowed to go out at the moment due to health reasons, I have a lot of time and can show something again. Actually, now it would be the driver's seat but... more on that later. So I worked my way further back and put the two tanks together in the rear and installed them. All lines/hoses and cables have now also been neatly attached to the frame. Here are just the pictures without any comments.
  4. And we quickly move on to the interior, the dashboard. The instruments are also wonderfully designed from the back, so I couldn't resist adding lines and cables to them. Together with the handlebar and the upper part of the tubular space frame. And everything is mounted on the vehicle The pedals aged and installed Old Jack is back at work and can hardly be stopped
  5. good morning, We continue in the interior, today it was the turn of the cockpit floor. From the manufacturer, this part is only supplied in black plastic. In my original pictures I only found this assembly in aluminum. and with corresponding aging So everything was painted in different shades of silver. and supplemented with a few screws and studs The smooth footrests were newly cut from honeycomb sheet metal Everything installed and aged makes it a much more harmonious sight
  6. Cutting the tires is not a solution. How do you come up with such an idea? In boiling water for about 10 minutes they are buttery soft and are really easy to put on.
  7. Such a mistake shouldn't happen with a model in this price range and should definitely be repaired. There are enough things that you can upgrade yourself, but these obvious mistakes, NO, that's not possible. I'll see when the parts arrive and then officially contact AGORA for repairs.
  8. Here is another picture of what the nameplates should look like. I really hope that Agora has revised this again and not copied the crap from Eaglemoss.
  9. Let's work our way forward and build the cooler. The components from three editions Assembled and aged again with oil paint and dry painting technique. And mounted on the frame in front of the engine.
  10. We continue with the switchgear. Assembled / Aged / Original image The lines and hoses And everything together finds its place in the tubular space frame. Likewise the parts for the steering gear.
  11. and we continue with the expansion tank. The components are thoroughly checked by Jack. Once the final inspection was completed, installation was relatively easy. Only the red lid still needs to be painted black. This comes from the Fangio car with the red starting number, Moss's car has a black number. in the next edition there were two diagonal braces for the frame. According to the construction instructions, these should be laid through the tangle of hoses, cables and wires. But I will install it over this, just like the original.
  12. Wheels simple variant 2nd part The tires are extremely hard and must be softened to be fitted. 5 minutes in boiling water and the tires are soft and can be easily slipped onto the rims. The rear wheels are larger and wider than the front ones. Now the chassis can stand on its own feet. Sir Stirling Moss and his team are watching the construction closely.
  13. And because everything was so much fun, I continued straight away. Now it's about the wheels. Two complete sets are included with the kit. So 8 tires and one set of simple spokes and one set of rims for the single spokes. Here I'll show you step by step how to assemble the simple version.
  14. Now the engine can breathe in properly and whoever breathes in also has to breathe out, so let's go ahead and install the exhaust system. And everything is completely installed in the frame
  15. Of course, an engine like this also needs air to breathe, so we continued with the intake manifold. The components from two editions assembled and aged. When installing it on the motor, I discovered an error in the instructions. The intake manifold was mounted to the holes in the exhaust manifolds in the instructions, great! When installed correctly, it belongs at the top between the spark plugs Here is the correct fit
  16. I had some time again and continued working on the engine of the W198R. During my research I also found another picture of the original and laid the cables according to this diagram.
  17. Yes, I noticed that during my long search. Parts are offered for so many models but not for the 300 SL, apparently there aren't many fans or the kit is just perfect and nothing needs to be improved. Too bad for those like me who will be repainting it and need new lettering.
  18. Hello, Does nobody really know a provider who offers, for example, photo-etched parts or other accessories or modifications for the 300 SL? I want to start building and repainting and definitely need new parts for the lettering and logos.
  19. Wow, the last pics look wild....
  20. yes, you can also putty on them, but there were also some with raised eyebrows, they had piping in between.
  21. Hello, before you paint the body you should fill the gap at the rear below the triangular window, the original has no gap here.
  22. Hello, I also want to repaint my 300 SL. do you have an idea / solution for the necessary decals or etched parts for the star and lettering?
  23. Hello, Were at least the cruel spelling mistakes on the nameplates revised? I don't know who translated and prepared it, it's not possible anyway. AKTIENGESBLLSCHAFT = AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT UNTERTLRKHEIM = UNTERTÜRKHEIM Fangsdk, ml Gunang ly, Fanr, ml Mzoadg ly, ml Alingey ly ??????????????? Laskierung: Kunsthsrz = Lackierung: Kunstharz Oberfldche = Oberfläche It also says that the paint job should be DB050. But DB050 is white and not silver... And the lettering on the side is in a different font. I really hope the kit isn't 100% adopted by Eaglemoss.
  24. Hello, because I want to repaint and upgrade my 300 SL, I'm looking for Modz. Photo-etched parts for the star and the lettering would be the beginning, but there is definitely more to come here and there. Carpets, seats, leather, engine parts etc. etc. etc. So if you know the supplier, please post here, the usual suppliers unfortunately have nothing in their range for the 300 SL.
  25. Hi, as I had already written, I don't like the solution with the silver rubber hoses at all. So now we continue with the lines for the injection system made of 1 mm aluminum wire. Here again pictures of the original. First I built these brackets, there are 2 pieces each on the left side, in which 4 lines each are routed. The 4 lines for the right side are first routed through a block of 4 and then through blocks of 2. Painted black, it is now time to bend and lay the cables.
