  1. i asked way back in sept last year and the reply was probably not as the hachette version was more expensive to be honest im un decided whether or not to get them but i would probably just get the driver and conductor if i did
  2. Just thought i would mention to any routemaster builders who are interested in the driver/conductor or passengers for the RM bus hachette are having a 50% sale you can still buy the issues with the scale passengers etc now for £4.49 link is https://hachettepartworks.com/en-en/classic-routemaster/
  3. yeah bit of an exaggeration to say wheels turn with steering wheel but then like you said not like it's going to be driven round like a toy im just a lot ocd if someone says that something works i assume it will though be interesting to see if anyone else mentions it
  4. Hey Julian did you get your replacement steering set ? i got mine this morning spent a bit of time prepping the gearbox parts before adding a generous amount of lithium grease and screwing tightly together but to be honest im not that optimistic on being able to actually turn the wheels via the steering wheel the finished weight is 4.5k and thats a lot of weight on those front wheels for that rather flimsy gearbox to overcome not to mention left turns are blocked by that radiator cross bar... was just wondering what you thought and how you fared with your replacement parts ?
  5. So i thought i would share this latest add to my tools with you ive found that working on this model build all the many screws that have to be fitted has really been a painful chore due to my carpal tunnel in my wrists i have a few different cordless screwdrivers in my tool collection but found the ones i had were either to big and powerful for the tiny screws or not powerful enough i needed something easy to hold that was capable of screwing in the bigger screws with enough torque to properly tighten but also be gentle when screwing in the smaller screws without striping threads or shearing off the heads i did a bit of research and found this Miniware ES15 Smart Screwdriver its is a quality stainless steel build with an OLED screen adjustable torque and impact function responsive to your wrist movement via gyroscopic sensors and will tighten the bigger screws with ease and yet is gentle on the smaller screws it comes with 20 x 4mm hex bits but you can buy bigger selections of bits easily online including the PH0, PH00 & PH000 that are needed for this model build... in short it's awesome and i can't wait to use it on the next part of the build ... it is rather expensive i paid £82 from Aliexpress but in my opinion so worth which is why i thought i would share with you

    PACK 5

Does anyone know when pack 5 will be sent out ? i thought it was 1st of month ?
  8. yeah it's on the "back to 1985" channel i saw him add the tape but he doesn't say why he did it i assumed it was to lift the switch up slightly so the end of the pedal made contact, when i read your comment i was intrigued to know what your reason was, i thought you also had built the model earlier and the tape was necessary due to some reason i didn't know lol
  9. does the circuit short without the tape Taffy ?
  10. hi Richard i just screwed them down nothing else you could use a tiny drop of super glue midway between each screw my only regret was not painting them before i removed them from the sprue but they're not to obvious i think
  11. hi Julian yeah i tried again it's a tight fit but do-able the main problem is that chassis cross member behind radiator when you fit cab floor to chassis the steering gearbox is right up against it so when you try and turn steering wheel left its blocked by that cross member
  12. Decided to chrome the front wheel hub trims i know they aren't perfect but hey ho im happy
  13. yeah i mentioned that a couple of days ago it came out day after i painted mine but im happy with black also they painted there's a dark choc brown rather than the orange colour of model think black looks better
  14. hi taffy finally found time to dry fit cab floor to chassis connect steering rods and boom me to that chassis bar infront of radiator blocks steering from turning left not only that but when i tried turning steering wheel back wheel went lose now no movement in gearbox its just gone sloppy seems like there's an issue somewhere with either deffectice steering gearbox parts and design as that chassis bar is gonna stop wheels from turning left aahhrrghh
  15. hi julian just decided to do a dry fit of cab floor to chassis and test steering and mine has gone sloppy like yours made sure cab floor was in correct place joined steering rods together and tried turning steering wheel and nothing wheel just turned but nothing happened to the front wheels now my linkage and steering gearbox gone all sloppy not sure if you tried dry fitting yours but the chassis crossmember in front of radiator blocks linkage from allowing steering to turn left something wrong somewhere me thinks
  16. No probs if i recall when i contacted them about a damaged part it took about 10 days till it arrived on my doorstep
  17. I Hadn't tried that based on not actually fitting cab yet awaiting pack 5 but thanks for the heads up Taffy will definitely keep an eye out for that
  18. daft question you sure you have it mounted correct way round mine turns right and left ok
  19. i watch the routemaster for hire vids and had already painted mine black before that vid came out it's obvious now that originally the cab floor and side panel were brown however the model looks to plasticky and when i drove the RMs back in the late 80's they had all been painted black including the real RM857 on which this model is based so im happy with mine ps i like the handbrake mod did you 3d print that ?
  20. mine was quite tight hence putting some oil on cogs certainly helped it turn more freely
  21. hi Tripplevalve thanks for that glad its not just me watching a youtuber called back to 1985 doing the hachette build his just seemed to slide in with ease
  22. Hi Julian mine is ok tightened up just fine but i always dip my screw in 3 in 1 oil when screwing into metal ive found it helps screw if it needs to cut through paint i also oiled the small cog inside to help when turning steering if you have a faulty part contact sophie at agora and they will send replacement part out they are very good at customer service
