CSS Alabama. Confederate Navy Sloop Of War.

It would be nice to see an accurate kit of this famous (or infamous depending on how you look at it) Confederate Commerce Raider.

The big 1/96th scale Revell plastic kit is quite inaccurate in a number of areas. There are a couple of wooden kits of the ship but need a lot of experience in wooden ship modelling to take on, so an accurate Agora model would be good.

Andrew Bowcock's book CSS Alabama The Anatomy of a Confederate Raider is the most accurate source of information about the ship that a kit manufacturer could use for reference. His credentials are that he worked for Cammell Laird into who Laird Shipbuilders the builder of the CSS Alabama became a part of.. He was also on a committee in Liverpool who were looking to fundraise the building of a full size replica of the ship to be displayed in the very dock in which the original was built. Unfortunately not enough could be raised to fund this project. Much of the work in Andrew's book is based on research he was doing for the replica project, so is generally recognised as the most accurate treatise on the ship. The original Laird shipbuilder's model of Alabama is in the Maritime Museum in Liverpool
