My take on the DB5 build

Ok, looking through Pack 11 instructions and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to run the wire for the Brake/Tail Light installed in the middle of the assembly through the top hole in the body... Doesn't make much sense at fist glance. Maybe there's some sort of spacer that I can't see. Anyway, still waiting for Pack 9 so never mind Pack 11... 🤣

Did you notice the instructions where they're including a small bit of carpet to "fill" the obvious space behind the gear shift/boot? (Not ours of course 😉).

I'm waiting for Pack 9, which I received notice it was shipped last week and should be here tomorrow, but I'm hoping the delays are done and the rest of the model's kinks have been addressed, or at least worked out.

Received my Pack 9 today! Yeeee!

First impression, I really like te "Bullet riddled" glass though I find that the Bullet hits to be a bit to "localized" when compared to the movie car.

So I decided to "Enhance" the impact area by simply scratching the window with the tip of a scalpel.

Bellow is the the "enhanced" vs "untouched" version of the back windscreen. What do you think?

Personally, I think it looks better...

Popped the body on just because I was curious to see what it is going to look like...

Biggest Pack so far (size wise) but not much I can modify. 🤣

I'm super happy with how this project is coming along!

The excitement was short lived...

What I feared has materialized! 😭The paint don't match!!! 😩

I put the hood on just to see, and it is much darker than the body! Though it may not look so bad on the picture, it is very obvious in real life.

Didn't try the doors on yet but I'm not expecting a better result...

I know metallic paints are really difficult to match when not applied to all parts in the same time. So many things can influence the result, pressure on the gun, the way paint is steered in the gun between passes and even the painter's touch...

Hoping for a perfect match is an utopia...

I have to say that I'm not surprised but still quite disappointed. currently contemplating the Idea of repainting the whole body... 😒

Nop, doors don't match either... Maybe the body they sent me is to light??

Ok, I'll be repainting the whole thing ... 😡

The bad news is that I'll have to wait for Pack 11 to get the Boot Lid, and who knows when this will be...

But wait! haven't seen the roof panel in the instructions yet! OMG! I think I'll have to wait for Pack 12 to get all body panels... 😩😩😩

Ordered this this morning... Silver Birch spray can, Primer, Base Coat, and Clear Coat.

From a local company near me. I found many companies in the UK but they could not ship overseas...

I'll have plenty of time to prep the body before I receive the missing body panels. 🙄

Also ordered the "Superleggera" hood badges from Mike Lane mods.

All this adds almost 200$ extra on the project...

Update on the repaint...

I contacted Agora regarding the paint mismatch and asked then if it was possible to send me the Boot Lid components and Roof Section in advance, so I can repaint the whole body at once... Unfortunately, not possible as these parts are not ready for shipping yet. They were extremely quick to respond to my email! 👍

They did offer to send me a new Bonnet and two Doors but I declined the offer as I'm certain the outcome would be very similar and it would simply be a waste of money for them. A perfect match is like winning the lottery!

Looks like I will have to wait for Pack 11 and 12 before I can eventually complete this one. 🙄

I received Pack 9 last Friday (Sep 6th) and today, I received the notification that Pack 10 is on it's way! September must be my luck month! 😁

Today (September 13) I received Pack 9 and was keen to compare the paintwork of hood and body. I am colorblind but I see no differences. Can somebody tell me if there are any? Paintwork differences? On the photos?

(I see the differences on Jo.Moras post. The hood is slightly darker, even for me.)

Hi @ModelSteve, from what I see on the pics, your match looks much better than mine! Looks like you won the lottery! 😃

Prepping the Body for the new paint job...

Close inspection and wet sanding of the body with 320 grit sandpaper allowed to expose some miner defects.

Some high spots, low spots, apparent mould split lines and rough edges.

Nothing serious really, but since I have spent so much time detailing everything else, might as well put the time to make the body as perfect as possible too.

Depending on the light source, (your first photo) it looks like the hood is a shade or two lighter, (that could be the clear coat or even the density of the coat), it is not a stark contrast. The 2nd photo appears spot on, so I think depending on how you light it, or where the light in the room hits where you display it, I doubt it will be noticeable.

Glad you received Pack 9, I'm still awaiting its delivery.

If you choose the damaged version, you don't need to repaint all 😉.

It will look great as the rest of your work!

It seems I should receive mine tomorrow. Hope the color will match...

Salut Olivier! Yes, I thought about adding some extra damage as I am definitely going for the damaged version. 😆

Hope your colour match is near perfect!

I received mine this morning, what a master piece! Looks amazing 🤩

I can't wait to test hood and door...

It doesn't look so bad fortunately. The hood is darker (mainly close to the wind shield) but pending on light orientation we don’t see the issue to much.

The door fit perfectly, I see no difference.

My colour match is surprisingly good for silver paint - the doors I would say are a perfect match, the bonnet a shade darker but not significantly so. Here's hoping the boot lid and roof panel are also a good match.

It's actually the good colour match that's making me stick with this body - unlike a lot of comments I'm seeing about 'perfect paintwork' mine has quite a few defects. Mostly contaminants and runs in the clear coat which I'm hoping I can fix, but there's also some really poor filler/prep work at the back below the boot opening - finger's crossed the bumper will cover the worst of it.

Pack 10 came in this week and I just had to do some mods... 😁

Not sure if I'll link it to the Headlights circuit or to and external switch yet, but here's my working Dome Lights mod...

The Body prep is coming along well. I will have to fix this huge gap on the RH Door (LH Door is ok)...

All the screws are tight and no Door wiggle...😁

Update: Slightly slotted the mounting holes to move the door forward and since the door was also sticking out a bit, I grinded down the hinge mating surface. I will be using some adhesive on final reinstall to prevent any hinge movement...
