Well GiddyKippa I finally started the roof. I am using 1/8  1/2 round and then the 1/8" rivet strips on each side. I've seen similar on Real Routemaster roofs. Also added two more in keeping with the real roofs. Quite easy and way better than the staggered row of screws provided.

you should've videoed your build that would've been fascinating to watch

OK, I didn't really think the 'Vette would push my buttons, but wow, it looks really great.  Silver/Red is a great combination, and the functional flip-over lights are very cool.

So now I have four I want, and we still have another announcement forthcoming.  Wish I could afford to make payments on that many at a time!

I'm thinking I'll do two at 24 months vs. one at 12.  Or one at 24 and one at 12 . . .

Question - how long do they usually stay in production?  I was thinking of the 917 and Miura for the first pass, then the Benz and the 'Vetter (or whatever the new release may be) afterward.  Are any of these going to be limited production?  I'm really bummed I missed out on the 312T.

And I'd love to be able to fit the Mustang and Cobra in at some point . . .

I think agoras philosophy is to keep each model in production at least as long as people are buying anyway .. i fancy doing the corvette but im going to wait till it's at least 6mths into release so im not waiting on packs as there were a lot of holdups on the routemaster which was very frustrating

After epoxying on the various panels I am now trying to glue on these plastic strips with a bit of cyanoacrylate. Her is a small corner started:

Ill be making some extra circa 1965 adverts so it can change with the seasons

awesome vid bri i love the little card with switch numbers and the detail on the case im guessing you have a lazer cutter ( totally jealous lol ) and the stickers on magnetic strip is genius

    Bugger

the stingray will be nice and the DB5 is a possibility as they already have the model deagostini did it and im sure fanhome were toying with the idea of the 66 batmobile so don't give up hope

I cut the polycarbonate out of 6mm with edges like a jigsaw so they all interlock then used a chemical to fuse all the joints on the cover. Then used flight case handles to lift off. I also routed in Routemaster.  The one i made for the Bismarck takes 2 people to lift off and its heavy. I made it before the ship and got the size wrong so it was easier to cut down the ship stand.

I will make a video showing the finished bus when I've done my own adverts. I stick them to 0.4 magnetic sheet in order to change them when i fancy.

Loved making this model hope agora either pick up the 66 batmobile or bond db5

i found a guy on ebay really good price for custom cut perspex sheets look forward to video  and totally agree with the 66 batmobile and 007 DB5  but looks like were getting another ferrari and a 63 corvette stingray and an old mercedes race car

Looks like Agora and IXO are each doing a version of the Mercedes W196R.  Stirling Moss with blue plaid seat and number 12 for Agora.   Juan Manuel Fangio with red plaid seat and number 8 for IXO.    IXO's is a full kit version.  I wonder what Agora will do?

ixos version only £850 for full kit thats nearly £300 cheaper than agoras

Built the plinth out of mdf, cover polycarbonate

Modified the wiring to make the front indicators flash using 0.4 led and drilling a hole in the indicator likwise with the bulk head light. Switches bought from ebay, and road strangely made from material that goes into thermal lances for steel making. Oh and passengers from the hachette website at the beginning of this project20221121_102337.thumb.jpg.2647c7970c9fc73922093648b4d37227.jpg

OK I never noticed that. My active Leopard and completed Bismarck subs were diff prices and my Cobra is over 24 mos.

Being that this model is on the smaller side relative to other 1:8 models, Agora could offer it as a complete kit ala IXO at a more competitive price.

As it is, I'm obsessing over what's under the cloaked models on the home page, I think the Red is the Stingray and the black one is a Ferrari ... possibly F40.

In any case, cheers to budgeting 2023 builds 🍹

im just going off the prices of models on 12mth presumably 24mth is more and full kit cheaper

Just to add a few comments.

I am by know means an expert and please correct me if you like.

But don't forget that there only few manufactures of these models as opposed to a number of distributors, and they generally do not sell directly.

IXO seem to be an exception, and are increasing there range of large scale models.

There will be a number of costs associated with the development and production of these models.

I guess the numbers have to add up before there is a go ahead.

That's generally why the model will be of a “known” subject.

So, if correct, an early Stingray should be very popular.

Of course re-releases should be easier due to the tooling probably still being held, and some market information will be available.

I would like to see the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing re-appear, and would certainly consider that as the next model I would like to do.

If we are looking for a re-release of a previous 1/8 model what about the Russian ZIS-110 limousine (2016).

I know, pretty unlikely due to the current situation but what a beastie!

if you look on ixo website they do the 917k and also the mercedes benz which agora have just shown a cropped pic of the front of and ixo sell the full kit 1:8 scale for 990 euros or £850 no waiting around for 12mths and i agree tripple that mercedes 300 sl gullwing would definitely be on my list

My attempt to get the front indicators working.  I drilled a 1mm hole through the bracket locating peg to run the LED wires through (note the off side locating hole is a blind hole, so had to drill that as well 1.5mm).

I drilled a 1.5mm hole into the indicator from below the hinge at a slight upward angle, in about 3 to 4mm

I then joined all of the wiring via the front hinged grill

Thanks to the other Modder for their ideas and tips, you may also note I also install an LED into the nearside marker light.

  12. I thought i would share this with everyone ive been looking at ways of creating a custom case for my bus out of perspex as some ready made are very expensive and are either 5 pieces you fit together of blow molded in one piece even more expensive (£300 plus) anyhow i did some searching and i found a guy on ebay who will custom cut clear 5mm perspex sheets and his price is very good i measured up my bus and came up with my dimensions of

L 73cm x W 38cm x D 24cm that's so it will fit my particular spot that i have my bus you might want yours a tad bigger but that's the beauty this guy will cut to your dimensions the price for mine is :
Costs as follows in display quality 5mm clear acrylic

    73cm x 38cm x 2 @ £22.50 each

    73cm x 24cm x 1 @£14.50 each

    38cm x 24cm x 2 @ £7.50 each

Delivery @ £5.49 to Uk mainland

    total £79.99

which i think is very good here's a link to his ebay page:

  13. ok so here goes ive done my indicators to be absolutely honest they didn't quite work out as i hoped the indicator lens were way thinner then i was expecting meaning the 0803 smd was wider than the thinnest point of the lens especially since they taper from body of bus towards the end, it ended up with a channel grooved into the lens rather than a hole so im not exactly happy with the end result but it was the only way i could do it i used a series of very small drills starting with 0.8mm and finishing with  1.4mm i then glued the smd in place to kinda seal it so i could paint round it to try and blend it best i could (see pics ) ive uploaded a video to youtube to show the working result
