Hey Julian did you get your replacement steering set ? i got mine this morning spent a bit of time prepping the gearbox parts before adding a generous amount of lithium grease and screwing tightly together but to be honest im not that optimistic on being able to actually turn the wheels via the steering wheel the finished weight is 4.5k and thats a lot of weight on those front wheels for that rather flimsy gearbox to overcome not to mention left turns are blocked by that radiator cross bar... was just wondering what you thought and how you fared with your replacement parts ?

Hi mate got a replacement on Saturday fixed it now but I don't think I will be turning the Steering wheel much once the bus is completed as you said it is far to heavy. Looking forward to the next set should be sent out the next few days 😀

would love to know if anyone else experiencing same problem as me ?

Hi Julian mine is ok tightened up just fine but i always dip my screw in 3 in 1 oil when screwing into metal ive found it helps screw if it needs to cut through paint i also oiled the small cog inside to help when turning steering if you have a faulty part contact sophie at agora and they will send replacement part out they are very good at customer service

Cheers mate,  i did oil it first but I think it was a dodgy part Agora are sending me a replacement so hopefully it will arrive before the next issues

  6. Hi is anybody having problems with the Steering column the cog under the drivers cab the screw hole is threaded and not screwing in securely I had to remove the bar so it wouldn't put to much pressure on it. There is no way thus will be able to steer the wheels it will just snap off

you did a neater job round those warning decals than i did i definitely think it looks better than brown

have you tried doing a test fit of the cab floor to the cab shell i have and not not sure if im doing something wrong but mine is incredibly tight to the extent where it's like something is miss sized i really struggled to get it anywhere near a proper fit

100% better thanks for giving me the boost to paint mine once I saw yours I thought that looks much better painted black. It was a tight fit but you have to screw the cab floor to the cab itself then it will attach to the chassis easier but you can't attach it until next issue as there is a bar to attach first........I might even paint the floor of the saloon a darker brown too definitely painting the flywheel cover black though

i didn't much care for the brown colour of the cab floor and side panel all the RMs i drove were all painted black (including the real RM857 that this is modeled after if you search on google there are many detailed pics) not sure if the original buses made in the 60s rolled out of the park royal factory painted brown but i prefer black so i painted mine its not perfect im a newbie to model building but im happy with it also made a solid wooden base and fixed those plastic chassis supports in place so i have a secure base to pick the model up and move it without the risk of damaging it

I decided to paint the 4 tread strips on the front off side wing silver too match the actual WLT857 routemaster bus as many had them painted silver see attached pics i know my mod isn't the best paint job my hands aren't that steady i should've painted them whilst they were still attached to the sprue but hey ho i don't think they look to bad

    WLT857.JPG

I wanted to do them but was scared I'd cock them up some RMs were silver or black yourself good

  12. I found the engine quite difficult to build (I'm not a experienced model builder) very fiddly so take your time very fragile parts especially the fuel pipes one of mine snapped but I managed to glue it.....just got the exhaust to put on then another month to wait l

hey i think your mods look great especially the kick plates on the stairs i saw another modeller building the RMT use hornby track pins as imitation rivets he also did the same on the seat backs and on exterior panels he filled in the centre of screws and painted them so they didn't look to obvious on the roof the original buses had 5 raised strips across the width he covered the joins with a strip of plastic sprayed red to match the roof and cover the joins in the metal sections it's only a short vid but interesting link below

I also painted the front wheel trims silver but I didn't like them but after seeing this video I wished I kept the silver now the look great on the finished bus. So glad I painted the wheels burgundy. Thanks for sharing

  14. Love this routemaster build looking forward to completing it. My friend completed it a few months ago I was very impressed but there are a few thing I'm not happy about. I have been driving buses in London for 30 years now and I have had the privilege of driving the RM many years ago but as a perfectionist I have made a few minor adjustments. The first thing I was disappointed with was the click plates on the steps  the screws are so big (see pics) it really let the build down. So what I did was I glued the kick plates to each step and covered the screw holes with tiny pins. Also the wheels looked unrealistic with the red paint RM wheels were mostly burgundy in colour (see picture of RM 857) so I sprayed them I think it mad a big difference  Also the RM rarely had the hub caps on the back wheels it was the RT which had covered wheels. I'm also thing of spraying the platform brown to make it look more realistic but I don't want to customise it to much. Love to hear your views
