And I agree about wanting more planes. I have no idea where I’ll put them, as I honestly don’t have the space. I do enjoy building them though.

I see they’ve announced some 1/48 scale Ferraris. I honestly have no interest in those.
However, now that, presumably, the licenses are sorted, or at least a relationship is in place Ferrari, if any of them were to become highly detailed 1/8 scale kits, I would definitely be interested. I already have the F40 and 250 GTO, but any others would go on my list.

Looking good Eagle! I’ve been trying to force myself to finish the two models already in progress on my desk, before allowing myself to start assembling the 917 parts I’ve been collecting, and seeing how awesome this looks is making it difficult.

Hi All,
Just wanted to share my build with everyone. This is my first part work airplane, and I must say, so far I am pretty pleased. I've noticed a few minor shortcomings, but overall, the detail and production quality of this kit has been excellent. It allows me to focus on sprucing things up, and not fiddling with ill-fitting parts or poorly executed details that require modification.I'm still trying to decide how weathered I want this model to be, but ultimately, "at least slightly weathered" is the answer. I've been assembling model kits for over 30 years, but weathering is still a bit of a new skill.
Anyways, in my typical fashion, I refer to lots of various reference photos. I aim for accuracy, but do so loosely. I realize that 99 out of 100 viewers will never notice most inaccuracies, so as long as it looks good to me, then it's good enough.
The engine was a joy to build. The only real issue required a bit of trimming of the 008-06 parts. Some of the exhaust pipes are a tad short, but most casual viewers wouldn't notice. I ended up completely repainting the exhaust pipes, and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.
Here are the exhaust pipes, pretty much stock. In these photos I have added a bit of wash.
Here is the first repainted pipe, next to the originals. You can see in this view how some of the pipes are a bit short.
And with all the pipes repainted.
The next area requiring a bit of sprucing up is the cockpit. It's still a WIP, and I'll save that for my next post. Until then, here's sneak peak, and some of the rest of my progress with some parts test fitted.

Both of my gears droop a bit, but the right gear definitely droops worse. -
I have to agree with Eagle on this one. I currently possess up to issue 40 I think it is, and the quality all seems excellent so far. It definitely stands out as better than some others I’ve seen.
Wish I’d known Agora was gonna be releasing all these “only available in Europe” models to the U.S. markets or I might have waited. I’m partway through collecting the Porsche 917 from IXO right now too. Oh well.

It sounds like you’re already a bit familiar with what you get in some of these part works kits, and if you’re happy with what you’ve already seen, then I’d say go for it.
I’m up to month 7, and have only built the engine, and barely started the cockpit. So far I’m pleased. Mind you, I personally enjoy some room for improvement and modification, so a little flashing and some minor parts worth replacing doesn’t bother me. So far, I’ve primarily relied upon “weathering” the stock kit parts, though in a couple cases I’ve gone for a full sand down and repaint. The engine and cockpit will definitely be the primary focal points of my extra details, and I honestly did very little to the engine. I wish I knew how well the body panels are going to look and fit together, but if the engine cowling is any example to go by, it should be fine.
It is a lot of money, but you’re into this sort of thing, then I’d say this is a quality kit worth building, at least so far.

Yep, had the same issue and solved it how A6M5 described. Just a dab of superglue to hold in place.

I’m a bit behind with this build, but I have some input anyways, based on the the diagram I saw in your other post.
I’d be looking to pinch the two pieces with some needle nose, hopefully aligning the holes. Then probably use a second needle nose to hold the pin, sticking longways, straight out from the tip of the pliers. Then, hopefully you can hold the pliers perpendicularly, and insert the pin.
The tricks will be:
1. Using a rag or some buffer to prevent scratching the parts with the pliers.
2. Picking up both pliers, and keeping the holes aligned and pin aligned long enough to insert. Tape can be your friend here.

Maybe check out the electricians screwdriver section of a hardware store too. I’ve purchases similar sets at hardware stores for work.
