  1. Body assembled. Stripes line up! Starting to look like something
  2. A little more. Body assembly. Hood hinges are the best ever.
  3. Engine installed. If you’ll notice , I painted the carb, like a Holley. Put a black wash on the alternator and put some electrical tape on the belt to make it look more realistic. Just a few of these little upgrades really make the model pop. I also glued the coil together and sanded the seam lines out. Painted it black and put some bare metal foil for the coil mounts.
  4. Engine is comming along nicely. Sanding seam lines on the headers. Painted headers flat black. Hand painted the nuts and bolts on the engine to give it a little detail. I am trying to get this ready for a local IPMS contest. Hence the sanding the seam lines and repainting. Not really necessary if you’re building for yourself as it’s a really great kit as is. But per IPMS rules, I am trying to get this as close to the rules as possible. The engine is beautiful. I have to confess, I am using some parts from a DeAgostini kit that was ruined from one of my friends. He gave it to me as he was going to put it in the trash. I am modifying the parts to fit and am using the hood, right door for the mirror. The front grill and the wheels. But this is 95 percent agora. It will be a regular GT500 with a 427 installed. There are less than a handful with a heart transplant. The supersnake was the ONLY one by Shelby American. The others were ford dealer installed. So I am making one of those. One came up on a muscle car show in Acapulco blue and is the inspiration for this build.
  5. Thank you. It’s a fun build!!! Love changing things around a bit. Temporary put some parts on. Starting to look good. Going to lower the front end a little. I really like the color. The chassis I’m going to leave alone. Looks great as it is. Plus you’re not going to turn this monster over when it’s finished.
  6. The interior is comming along. Like the fold down rear seat.
  7. Working on the chassis , doors and front end.
  8. Stripped the paint off the wheels, sanded with 2000, 3000. Rubbed with corse compound., finer compound, polished with a dremel tool. Detail painted the black, molotow chrome the lug nuts. Looks a lot better.
  9. The air intakes look really cool.
  10. Really looks slick now. Sanded , rubbed and polished.
  11. Just cleared the body parts. I will color sand the parts with 3000 then rub and polish. The color is out of this world.
  12. Striped the car. GT500 decals provided by a club member. Painted the stripes. Will clear next. The color is beautiful.,
  13. Hello everyone. Changing the supersnake. It’s going to be a GT500 with a 427 in her. Acapulco Blue with white stripes. These are so fun to change or modify. So far I just painted her blue. Next is sand her with 2000 grit wet and dry. Assemble the body so I can stripe her. Take it back apart and reclear the whole car. Then have a blast putting her together.
  14. Pack 2 installed. The engine is very nice. No seam lines
  15. Sanding seam lines. Repainting. Just a little extra work but worth it. Let me say that if you do just a little more , these kits are a bargain compared to the amalagam models. Compare the price and you will see, these are fantastic kits.
  16. Putting together pack 2 . I clean up the parts so they do not look like toys. Example is the seam line. I sanded the part and painted it trim black. I also paint the bolts. It just adds more detail to the build. For those of you guys who are not familiar with IPMS rules for competition, you should look them up, this will help make your model a better model. I do have a little experience with IPMS. Won a 1st , 2nd , 3rd place and a special award at the nationals. Competition makes you a better modeler. You can also go superdetailing if you would like. Some people love that. But in this build it’s a pretty good kit. I’m just doing my thing on the Mercedes to make it a little better.
  17. Prime, let dry, look over primed areas, resand, reprime
  18. Here is the progress, a little work but it is worth it.
  19. Ok prepping the body. Superglued the eyebrows and roof to quarter panel. Sanded with 180. Next will be the putty. This is my favorite step to building models. Bodywork and paint. The superglue with activator is just insurance that the putty will not crack out.
