Gullwing with blue interior

I’ve been working on this since October ‘23, and it’s coming along fairly well.  Here is the chassis. Nothing too special. A bit of weathering, thinned the fan, added hose clamps from Mike Lane.
I sort of want to lower it slightly since that swing axle cambers in a little more than I’d like even with the body on. At this point, it’s surgery, so I’m still thinking about it.IMG_4020.thumb.jpeg.3203ed12d4f4fe7be5e3442b238385e6.jpegIMG_3666.thumb.jpeg.bd44e4416fdd6dc7d3e4bc0df54419ee.jpegIMG_4020.thumb.jpeg.6f007589af059d3ee8ad6d8fe7cb3ea9.jpeg

I moved on to the interior.  I went with ink blue and plaid seats. The seats are paper, printed in MacRea of Conchra plaid that seems pretty close to the correct pattern. Added a grey felt tunnel blanket and some rubber floor mats. The carpet is royal blue felt. I got some Jaguar XKE seatbelts from ModelModz even though they aren’t standard for the car (safety first, I guess) and I like them a lot. I am unhappy with the dashboard gauges, and am thinking of making my own. These seem muddy.  IMG_3926.thumb.jpeg.3f80af33323524e71dabd35196b9ab9c.jpegIMG_3949.thumb.jpeg.e7d31870608267a2859e14d875b578e4.jpegIMG_3992.thumb.jpeg.23e07fce27511b6eda4423ac0625b07b.jpegIMG_4026.thumb.jpeg.1e0c63469216bb76c306a4d96f8b0bb5.jpegIMG_3508.thumb.jpeg.0a481584f8a2f4f0a4d573506acad87d.jpeg

  • Katz changed the title to Gullwing with blue interior

Finished the door cards today. Replaced the painted on rivets with pin heads. Did the same on the cabin panels.IMG_4408.thumb.jpeg.c95269e6b48de4824f37a671734f2c29.jpegIMG_4412.thumb.jpeg.997f0c3e3dcbfb9b95596241fae32703.jpegIMG_4378.thumb.jpeg.bfa120751fe7a2c7b17f571032098c27.jpeg

Laid down a little body paint too.  It’s a start…IMG_4407.thumb.jpeg.559463efd990ff1dc25eecd24161a8ba.jpeg

Oh, and I lopped a coil off the rear springs to try to get the camber under control.  Subtle difference, but it’s better.

hello,

very nice that everything looks so good with just a different color.

You have correctly kept the edges on the door panels in the color of the car.

I don't see any more screws here, did you glue the door panels?

The number of pinheads would be a bit too much for me but the overall picture is still harmonious.

Thanks. I did glue the cards, and filled the holes and seams. Assembly was a bit of a pain considering how the pieces are constructed, but I managed to get it all together. As for the pins, I went with what was printed on the model. I suppose I should have looked up # and placement. Happy-ish overall.

Where did you get your little hex-head screws, btw? They would be great for the hinges.
