  1. Itโ€™s an ongoing issue with Agora. Iโ€™ve given them until the end of the month to resolve it, so it wouldnโ€™t be fair of me to go into details before then, apart from to say that itโ€™s dragged on WAY too long.

Iโ€™m not sure we should read too much into the free shipping offer from Fanhome. It could be as simple as they need to free up warehouse space, so are offering a small sweetener if people sub.

Hey fellow agorians, prior to my previous topic post on fanhome being on a roll...well let's just say that was then..๐Ÿคจ

Me and other model builders doing the r2d2 are still waiting on the final 2 issues needed to complete the build.some people since october 2023 and no date on when they will turn up...slightly worrying.

On top of this I have subscribed to E.T and now this is on hold Due to "increased demand" and once again no idea when the 3rd pack will arrive.ย  Recieved first 2 packs in Jan and Feb no issue.

I'm also seeing more of the models being put on hold,Nissan skyline and maybe the batmobile 66?

Really frustrating and will definitely have to consider whether it's worth using them for any future models or just stick toย  100% agora..

    Anyone in the same boat?

    ย

Opposite boat for me. It's becoming very likely that I won't be using Agora again once my current sub is complete ๐Ÿ˜žย

And I'm not sure if anything should be read into this, but I received an email from Fanhome this morning offering me free shipping on my first two packages if I subscribe to the Robocop build.

I doubt they'd have taken on so many models if they felt they couldn't cope ๐Ÿ™‚

And I'm sure they're doing everything they can to sort out the shipping issues. The last thing they're going to want is people cancelling at this stage, given that the first Batmobile pack is practically free, so they're making a loss on it at this point.

Spookily enough, perhaps 5 minutes after I'd posted this, I got a notification on my phone saying Royal Mail had made a delivery at my house. Went home for lunch and sitting in my shed was the first Batmobile pack! So, look as though the delays mentioned aren't (currently) anything like as bad as feared.

Not the best of starts to any model run really notsram, even though as discussed before, this is not of the fault of Fanhomes.

But with such a huge catalogue of models now, and pressures rising worldwide on shipping, it makes you wonder how they'll cope.

I'm sure everything will fall in place and come together okay.

Yes hopefully you'll have no problem, but this is what we predicted for Fanhome just a few months ago, with such a huge choice of models now, there is bound to be issues arising, and I know this actual issue is not Fanhome fault, but have they taken on too far much from the Defunct Eaglemoss, only time will tell, but they must have warehouse full of different models now.

As for R2-D2 Chris, nothing at all, I'm still badgering them every two weeks and they keep on telling me the same thing...'Thank you for you patience', not exactly the answer I was hoping for. And I only want 99-100. ๐Ÿ˜•

It's been a long time (I subbed to the original Deagistini R2 run) since I built this, but I do seem to remember some of the last shipments being delayayed by several weeks. Really felt like they were making it up as they went along ๐Ÿ˜› It's a great model though, IMO, and well worth the inconvenience of a few delays.

  6. 3 hours ago, Phil said:

Just received a very disconcerting letter from Fanhomes, that already before I even started the Batmobile66 , that delays are likely now in the model as some of their containers are caught up in the Red Sea troubles.

Maybe we should had expected that anyway ๐Ÿ˜•

    ย

Yeah, I received that email too. Hardly a good start to my Fanhome experience, but it's not exactly their fault.

*edit* and at least they've bothered to let us know. Modelspace were utterly woefull at passing on information about delays.

  7. Oh, one thing I'm not keen on with the Batmobile is the way they've built automatic binder purchases into the build.

But I checked before subbing - you can email and cancel the binders if you don't want them (which I don't). So once my first set of parts arrive, I'll be cancelling the binders!

If anyone else doesn't want the binders, just drop Fanhome an email and let them know.

  8. I've just seen the E.T. model on Fanhome and I have to say, it does look very very good. I'm tempted!

Despite having had a few bad experiences (see above) with Modelspace/Deagostini, I couldn't resist signing up for the Batmobile. It's long been at the top of my wishlist (along with the Bond DB5!). If the Batmobile goes well (they've just taken the first payment), I might cave and build E.T. too ๐Ÿ™‚

*edit* reading back through the thread, I'd apparently already seen the E.T. Model. I guess my memory's going ๐Ÿ˜› Don't remember that at all!

Ditto. I wish there was an option to buy all now.

If this build follows the pattern of others, there won't be an option to buy the whole kit until the end (or near the end) of the current run.

(I'm still waiting for pack three as well ๐Ÿ˜› )

ย I was really unhappy at not receiving a pack last month and made my views very clear on FB groups, although some people disagreed with my comments. But I ย fully understand how you will be feeling. ย What i will say is the kit meets or passes my expectations and i'm sure your pack will arrive real soon.

It actually arrived at lunchtime today. I just hadn't received any info that it had been despatched ๐Ÿ™‚ Not that I'm in any hurry. I don't plan on starting the build until I have most, if not all of the packs.

  11. I gave up on Modelspace/Deagostini/Fanhome after the X-wing, but they certainly used to offer big price cuts on full kits. I picked up the RB7 racer (really must get round to finishing that some time!) for about 40% of the RRP a number of years ago. Of course, you then play the lottery of if/when it will arrive and how many parts will be missing...

  12. My take is that I much prefer printed instructions. If you smear a bit of oil or glue on a printed page by accident, it doesn't really matter. Another story if it's a computer/tablet/phone screen!

I don't understand why they're not included, TBH. I work in the print industry and I know how little extra it'd cost to bulk print the directions.ย

I'm lucky though, in that we have a couple of very fast laser printers in the office, so I can easily print them off from the PDFSย  ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Deagostini used to offer train builds years ago. None of them were UK trains though. I'm notย  huge train fan, so can't remember the details, but I'm pretty sure there were at least two - one American and one Japanese.

(and having said I'm not a train fan, I'd still be interested if any iconic UK steam engines came up - I have to agree that the Rocket would be really cool!)

  14. I'm pretty certain the physical version hasn't been edited. I've watched it many times in various formats over the years and don't remember anything being cut.

I'm not sure about the digital version being edited. The BBC banned it themselves due to the reaction, rather than it being banned by an external body, and IMO there's nothing in there that would necessitate being cut.

If you do watch it, I'd be interested to know what you think. And there are any number of articles out there discussing it, but I'd strongly recommend watching it before reading any of them ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. I watched A Quiet Place part 2 last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not quite up to the standard of the first, but still very good!

Pretty sure Ghostwatch is on Amazon video - although it's not free. And as far as I'm aware, the BBCs ban on it being repeated is still in effect.

As I said, it's a little dated now, but still well worth watching. You can see where the likes of Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity got some of their ideas from ๐Ÿ˜‰

  16. Haha, I'm the same way whenever I hear Tubular Bells!

Ghostwatch was first broadcast in 1992. I don't think the BBC have ever repleated it - probably because of the reaction to it. Their switchboard was quite literally jammed with people calling about it and it scared so many people that it was featured in quite a few newspapers the next day.

It's a bit dated now, but when it was first shown, there was nothing else like it. I won't go into details, but it stars three very popular figures of the time - Mike Parkinson (never thought he'd do anything like this!), Sarah Greene and Craig Charles.

I watch it regularly! I have it on Blu-ray. Not sure if it's available on any streaming services.

  17. I've been a horror fan for a long time too! I also wasn't old enough to go see the Exorcist on first release, but went with a few friends to see it when it was re-released. Some time in the late 80s, I think, and it was brilliant. I may have to watch that again next weekend.

A Quiet Place was really good. Better than I expected. Very interesting concept, and the soundtrack is fantastic. Will be watching the second one soon and I believe a third is in the pipeline if all the strikes are ever sorted out in Hollywood!

Malignant is a very good shout. Definitely worth a watch.

My all time favourite isn't actually a film. It's a BBC drama - Ghostwatch. I was lucky enough to catch it when it was originally broacast and had no idea it was a drama. Scared the pants off me, up until the last few minutes when I sussed it wasn't real. I watch it every couple of years and some parts still give me goosebumps.

  18. I love horror movies. Planning on watching 'A Quiet Place' tomorrow evening... with all the lights off and the surround sound jacked up ๐Ÿ™‚

My favourite horror character would have to be Alien, but seeing as that's already been made, how about Pennywise the clown from the 'It' movies?

    Hi guys.

Well Chris, they don't seem to want to change at all, it must be their business model and the way they work, I personally believe it only will be a matter of time before they do change, because with the amount of models they releasing, you think they would want to clear their warehouse as soon as.

But anyhow thanks for trying again Chris.ย

notsram, we will have to wait to finish our R2-D2 now, you made me laugh when you mentioned R2 on patrol and scaring life out of your cat, coz it reminds me of my brother's dog, she's a Lakeland Terrier, and she is mortal enemy with my Leopard Tank, she growls and barks at it, when I set it into motion and every time they visit, she goes into stalking mode on the Leopard, so I can't wait till she sees R2 in action ๐Ÿ˜‚, and thanks to you too for the advice on my badge, I will send our friends a nudge on updating my page, and just one more thing guys, oh that's sounds like Columbo lol. Model Space probably the worst customer service in the world! I'm glad they gone, Model Space done me on my T72 Russian tank, I got right up to issue 10 pack of 12, and they broke off all communication with me, so I have an unfinished T72, which to me was a complete waste of time and money.

You guys have a great weekend and happy Modelling, I will be asking you Chris about some of your methods of weathering R2 soon, if you don't mind that is.

    Cheers guys ๐Ÿป

    Phil

I'd have to agree about Modelspace customer service. They were utterly awful. I ordered the RB7 full kit from them ages ago, and it took about six months from them taking payment to delivery. I sent quite a few emails chasing it and they didn't even bother to reply to most of them.ย  It eventually landed in a very flimsy, battered cardboard box. No packaging, just a load of individual bags containing the parts. Several were missing, although to be fair, they did courier them to me when I phoned up and complained ๐Ÿ˜›

I tried ordering their Jaguar full kit too. After a month, I chased it up, only to be told it was 'out of stock'. After endless promises that it'd be back in stock, 'soon, end of next week, end of next month', etc. etc. I gave up and cancelled it.

As for the T72, it was an awful model. No end of issues. Pretty much nothing worked. Again, lots of emails, most of which were ignored. I eventually got replacements for the faulty parts, then replacements for those, then replacements for those and so on. At the end of the day, I had to take the thing apart so many times trying to get it to work that if it ever had worked properly, it would have probably fallen apart if it moved. I finally gave up on it. It sat in my loft for a few years and then I chucked it out when I had a clearout last year.

And I won't mention the amount of times they sent (and charged me for) binders for the X-wing model that I'd never requested...

    Rant over! ๐Ÿ˜›
