Damn;  wish I could paint bodies like that;  are you using paint booth to keep out dust particles?

Hello Eagle 36. Sometimes. I paint outside . At my house. In the summer. 6 am the side of the house is perfect for painting. In the winter I have a spray booth. Full size.

Hello eagle 36, this one was painted outside. It was summer so they are easier to paint. In the winter I use the spray booth at work. This is what I do for a living so it’s not that hard for me. I have a iwatta lph 400, I use for the clearcoat and a Sata Jet for the base coat. The spray guns cost a lot. $700 for the iwatta and $950 for the Sata Jet. I have been in the business since 1969 so paint companies give me paint and clear for free to test. I’m very lucky my living and hobby are one.

  3. Here is number 27. I have glued the pieces together and sanded and painted the part. I have removed the seam lines. I am doing this to the whole build. , makes the car look better . In my humble opinion. Here is a picture of the primer I use. It is expensive but works very well.

Hi all, did anyone else run into this. My frame has 3 posts coming down from the cross member over the rear dif. The center one interferes with the installation of the differential housing.

Hello Pete. I’m building mine and my frame does not have these posts. You will have to remove them. Cut them out with a hack saw blade then use a dremel tool to sand the frame. Then you will have to paint it black. Semi gloss black. Here is a pic of mine. As I look at the frame up close, looks like agora has cut them out. Yours slipped thru somehow. Maybe you can contact agora and get a new frame section for your car. Hope this helps.

  5. The Mercedes is on all four wheels. Stripped the silver off the rear wheels sanded and polished. The wheels look like polished aluminum. The rear suspension is finished. Brake lines installed. Set the body on the frame. Nice job agora.

Wow I have just seen the amalgam kits.😲never heard of them until you mentioned in this post. Some of the models are like 20k!!!

Good job with the mercedes btw,it's looking like something special so far. With your credentials I'm not surprised that your ability to mod and make agora models even better is probalbly light work for you.keep it up, Awesome stuff Brudda.👍

    Thank you very much Christopher

  7. Hello. I am currently working on the Mercedes and so far it’s a fantastic kit. With that being said , a person could complain on all kits no matter how expensive or not. The Lamborghini is a hand full as the cobra was not. Myself,  being a modeler I like to change things a bit. My car will be black and the wheels I have stripped and polished. I look at these models as a great pallet and it’s a great starting point. If you want perfection look at amalgam. But the cost is really expensive. If you clean things up a bit on a agora kit, like sand seam lines and repaint, change color etc you will come out with a model that comes out pretty close to a amalgam kit but at a quarter of the cost. But some effort has to be applied. This is why if you look at an amalgam kit and agora kits, Agora kits are a fantastic bargain. And you get to put them together, your way if you wish. This is my opinion of course, but I do have a set of credentials. Certified bmw tech certified Shelby and f150 aluminum tech, corvette tech. On real cars. A special award winner at a IPMS national event. Second and third place also, So I have a little experience.

    Hello,

    nice progress, I like it.

I see you left the gearbox red. Unfortunately, I never saw a red gear in any of the original pictures.

Do you know more about this? Why did IXO make this in red?

I would also be interested to know how exactly you do this with the logos and lettering after repainting?

Do you want to install the hubcaps on them?

I would like to represent Rudge closures, but I can't find anything suitable. Let's see how you can file something like this yourself from a piece of plastic.

Hello I do not know why the gearbox is red. I’m leaving it red. I thought it might be silver or flat aluminum. I took the chrome lettering off with a razor blade. You have to be very careful. I am having the Mercedes decal made that mounts in front of the hood. The wheel I have polished and just might find a knock off that may work.
