I finally completed Optimus Prime in all its parts!
deserved the creation of a display case.
I am very satisfied with the result. A museum piece!

Hi, Looks greats!!! I want to get a display case well! Can you share the exact dimensions you ordered? Also, what company/website did you use? Thank you! ~ Mike

Hi Mike, thank you!!! to create the display case I turned to 4 different companies: one for the structure, one for the plexiglass and forex, one for the lights, one for the wooden base… I attach some photos of my display case and some alternative solutions that are still beautiful but less expensive.

The display case is made with an aluminum structure measuring 3 x 3 cm. The external dimensions are cm. 66 x 66 x 106. (internally it is 60 x 60 x 100) The structure has grooves in which you can insert sheets of plexiglass, forex or other material ... I inserted sheets of plexiglass on three sides ( 3 mm of plexiglass), while on the back and at the top I inserted  black forex . The base is made of wood measuring cm. 59.6 x 59.6 in this way you can insert the display case from above. For the light I used a LED strip (the ones used for kitchens) with a rounded structure ( in this way you have a diffused light …and not create shadow spots).

For the structure I looked at the French site systeal.com: on their site you can also find a configurator for display cases for 3D printers ... you can order the structure, the plexiglass, the alupanel and the rubber profiles for the plexiglass (search on their site "Pre-configured frames").

France has very high prices compared to Italy...The structure alone costs € 267,0 including shipping! (it's not cheap!) For the plexiglass and forex I turned to a company in Italy because I spent less (the plexiglass must be cut at the corners to fit well into the structure ... and make cuts at the corners costs a lot! (€ 237 for plexiglass and forex).

Then I bought a wooden base cut to size and a LED strip with a rounded shape that I hid in the upper part of the display case, covering the white cable with black adhesive tape (€ 70 for wooden base and light)…

The whole display case cost me € 574 …. The result is truly excellent! for me it makes the model (already very beautiful in itself) even more beautiful and the light I chose enhances it in all its details.

If the cost is excessive for you I recommend this:

there are many aluminum profiles on the market and different solutions for joining them to the corners.... my advice is to buy even smaller profiles (2 x 2 cm)... than 2 mm plexiglass (since the aluminum structure holds the weight!) and a less expensive solution to anchor the structure to the corners and which allows you to cut the plexiglass at the corners yourself (cutting the plexiglass at the corners cost me € 100!!)...with this second solution you can create a display case with around € 300 including shipping (a less expensive but still very beautiful solution) …

Look at the images I attach where you can see a 20x20 mm structure with a less expensive corner solution that allows you to cut the plexiglass only in 8 corners in total (it's not easy to understand from the photos... you have to study the structure carefully) with simple cuts of approximately 4 mm x 4 ... the most difficult thing is to understand the exact measurements of the various parts of the structure based on the corner solution that you decide to buy.

I hope I have been of help to you!!

greetings from Italy

Marco
