It is pretty big. The bulk of the volume is the rotor span, although, if you were not interested in running the blades and just have it as a diorama, I'm sure a 3rd party blade kit which folds the blades backwards for transport will appear.

Any photos you see of ordinance with a blue tip or blue paint are for training purposes. In other words, Inert. Typical of what you might see on display at an airshow.

Colour choice for painting is something that can be complicated. The official colour of an Apache is FS 34031.  However, as you put a lot of photos of the Apache together side by side, they appear to vary quite a lot. Because that paint has a lot of grey, it tends to pick-up ambient lighting. Then oils and fuel residue will create a pattern of specular variation. I should explain, my day job is working on simulations with this helicopter and I've had artists go mad painting oil stains.

Working at scale is tricky and not my wheelhouse, my understanding is that colours work different at different scales (the so called "scale effect"), typically this means using a slightly lighter colour. That's because at a distance, all the caked on dust, and bug splats (lots of bug splats) tend to lighten the appearance. I'm going to start with the Testors Apache paint set for the 1/35 scale kits and take it from there.

1/24th scale is a big chopper, but that's what you're paying for.  As mentioned in earlier posts the biggest in model form is 1/35, which is still big. I built the new Meng version earlier this year and installed my own lighting and MFD displays.  Detailing, painting and lighting is what I enjoy the most. Whereas if you want a fully painted and ready to go super sized model, the Agora model is the one for you.

Either way it's a great looking chopper.
