Hello,

I'm thinking and speculating which model would be worth releasing as a special anniversary edition in just 7 pieces.

Since the special editions are not new models but special variants of existing models, in my opinion not many models come into question.

The Miura in orange or green, but that isn't celebrating an anniversary in 2024.

So I looked up when Hasbro released the Transformers for the first time.

And it was 1984, so that would be the ideal occasion to celebrate a 40th anniversary for Optimus Prime.

The DB5 was seen in Goldfinger in 1964? 60 years of Goldfinger???

The Lotus as a normal street version would be brilliant but it doesn't celebrate a special occasion.

The limitation to just 7 models is very interesting and confusing.

greeting from Berlin

Marek

hello,

It was a secret for a long time. Agora Models had announced a new model in 1:8 scale.
The really unusual thing was the announced number of units, this model is to be released in an edition of only 7 units.

Many pondered, thought about it and pulled their hair out. What occasion can justify such a small edition of a special model.
The special models at Agora have always been the series models in a special variant.
Such as the LaFerrari in black or the 250 GTO in a beautiful blue genziana, each with an edition of 150 units.

Could this model be a Miura in green or orange? Lamborghini is not celebrating a special occasion in 2024.
Could it be a special Optimus Prime? The Transformers saga was released 40 years ago.

But no, the number of units already suggested it was about James Bond, specifically the Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger.

Arguably the most famous car in the world is now set to become the ultimate luxury model, as British car kit manufacturer Agora Models announces a precious, 24-carat gold-plated, limited edition 1:8 scale Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5.

With only seven models being made, the car will feature some of Bond's most famous gadgets, including working ejection seats and a rotating license plate.

Made in collaboration with the 007 filmmakers, Eon Productions and Aston Martin, the museum-quality 1:8 scale model kit has been developed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger, in which the now-iconic DB5 first appeared on screen. The car will be available as a self-build kit or complete model.

On James Bond Day, October 5, 2024, it will be available to purchase exclusively from agoramodels.com. The first seven orders will be successful owners of this exclusive edition.

The model will feature an arsenal of working gadgets like those designed by Q in Goldfinger: ejection seat with removable roof, two front-mounted Browning machine guns, bulletproof screen, tire slasher, oil-spill nozzles, rotating number plates, gadget control panel, radar tracker screen, weapons tray, deployable roll cages.

The full-scale, gold-plated replica began with a laser scan of the original, life-sized Goldfinger car. Hundreds of photographs were taken to capture every detail, including the engine, chassis, dashboard and gadgets. Up to 250 molds were then created - each weighing well over a tonne - and carefully tested before final production began. The gold-plated body is made from 24-carat Fairmined gold, worked by specialists in Birmingham's jewelry quarter, and each car is individually certified.

The limited edition model lives up to Agora Models' mission to provide museum-quality model kits of the world's most famous cars to model-building enthusiasts and offers the opportunity to own the ultimate James Bond Aston Martin DB5 model kit.

This is for the super rich, with only 7 being made I'm sure they will sell out instantly.

I wonder if anyone on this forum has that kind of disposable income🤔

If I did I'd rather buy all the models agora do so I have my own museum (and lots of kits to put together)

£25000 though!

I think I would prefer the Amalgam model for that prize ( better detailing and quality)  With electro plating the gold layer thickness is greater than or equal to 0.5 micron. For such a thin layer you pay approximately $ 15.000 while the kilo gold prize on the moment is approximately $75.000.

I think the thing is kind of cool but I don't know who the customer is for it.

I'm a model maker and personally I like the original and that was and is silver.

Even as a 007 fan I wouldn't want a gold DB5.

Well, I think the 7 pieces will sell faster than we can imagine.

So let's wait for the next real special model from Agora.

Has my laptop thrown a wobbler!!!

It's not April 1st is it?

Judging by the imperfections on my £1,300 DB5, there's no way on earth I'd be paying out £25,000 for a golden version, even if it was hand delivered by Daniel Craig himself, (in the absence of Sean Connery of course).
