Today's arrival. Getting pretty sick of having to go through the instructions step by step and "take inventory" just to see if everything is there.

Yup. Had the same issues both with the oil pump (left side) and the 2 fuel pumps (right side). They put too much force on the connections and the quality control on the cable coating is not consistent enough to always fit into the ferrules provided. Some of mine were a full.15mm larger than the ID of the ferrules. Swapped in some KS Metals aluminum tubing and some 49 strand shark fishing leader to get to where it was at least manageable. I have extra pump tops for both the oil and fuel pumps if you or anyone else wants to go that route.

Love the braided hoses and fittings. The right side of the fuel system kicked my butt. Ended up just modifying the tops of the pumps to take the lines from the splitter. Not authentic but was within my skill level (this is my first ever scale model) and looks OK for the level of detail I'm shooting for.. Hope someday be able to work at the detail level of your builds, fantastic.

Finally got back to this build and taught myself some basic flocking. Overall I am pleased and I think it was well worth the effort and cost to do this.

Today, I have reached the stage where these are included. Doing the whole inlet tube would be a bit trickier, but the "trumpet bell" is pretty straightforward. These are some test prints with a quick and dirty Fusion360 model. Not perfect for sure, but I think this will work out fine. Next version can be a bit slimmer with a better surface finish. The yellowing on the last picture was me testing to see if I could "toast" the surface with a torch to get some yellowing effects.

How about a Top Fuel Dragster? Any era, front or rear engine. Doug Kalitta's car has nice lines and bright livery, but old school front engine cars would be cool too. Don Garlits' Swamp Rat series maybe? The outrageous proportions of these beasts would be a treat to have in 1:8 scale.

This is exactly why this forum and other like it are so useful! I had never heard of this technique . Thanks for expressing your ideas about how to possibly replicate this, even if theoretical at this point. Once I get to this stage (I am behind in assembling my packs due to video production) I may try this.

Couple more items in here that are an EZ upgrade to more closely replicate an original. The gauge faces would be rotated so the "correct" reading would be at the top of the dial. i.e. If nominal operating water temp was 110c then the 110 mark on the dial would be at the top etc. This allows the driver (who is busy driving 200mph in the dark sometimes) to be able to just glance down and see if any of the gauges are not indicating straight up. With the vibration and frenzy it is almost impossible to actually read the values from the instruments. In addition to the red lever handle (required by the FIM) it would also have had the "E" label placed near it. This is a quick indicator to the marshals that it is the emergency cutoff switch. By pulling the handle straight back, it cuts all electrical power to the vehicle, if the handle is then rotated, it discharges the fire suppression.

In step 38 we are " Fitting the left side frame, the OIL FILTER and the engine." In step 39 we are " fitting the right side frame and joining the FUEL line." This sure looks like we are dealing with the same "hose" (the wire rope style) in both steps. Did I miss something? Just looking for a sanity check on this one.

Im not doing this model but I do work with LEDs a lot. The cold white lights could be replaced with a warmer one. All of the LED's I have encountered on my build have been a standard size and voltage. Even without seeing them, I would expect them to be 3mm diameter , 3-3.2 volts at 20mA. This should be an easy like for like swap. I was one of the fortunate ones who was only into the EM Ecto-1 build for one pack when they went belly up. I had been working on the lights in the grill and added some additional LEDs and ran them with an Arduino to make the strobe effect, the same method I am going to use on the 917 I'm doing now. All of the LEDs in this Ecto grill are this 3mm, 3v, 20mA style. 20220108_073102.mp4

A few week between billing (which seems to be on a automated schedule) and the shipping/receipt of pack, is pretty normal from my limited experience. The first few packs of my Porsche were on a known delayed schedule since it was just announced and released when I ordered it. Both models from pack 4 on seem to be what I should expect for the rest of the subscriptions. I am in Massachusetts and all of my shipments so far have come from the UK.

I am very new to modeling and my initial interest in getting into this was the DB5 in 1/8. Sadly it was not available. I don't think I want one that has machine guns etc... as that was not what I was after, BUT... this series of cars is exceptionally cool and will be a blast to build I am sure. Curious if this is a ground up build of the DB5 of if they started with the existing 1/8 model out there and turned Q loose on it.

With Ford returning to F1 in 2026 as a RedBull Powertrains Engine (in name only) , I would think they would be eager to remind people of their F1 success. They are still the 3rd winningest engine mfg even though they have been out since 2004. Get Ford on board with this idea and make it happen !

I have received 5 packs of parts and the lighted base so far and am having thoughts of NOT doing this one. While I have been a huge F1 fan for 50+ years I have to admit that purchasing this x/60 edition was a bit of a knee jerk impulse buy. The main reason for not wanting to build it is that I can't make this decision on whether to make it look like it just finished a race at the Glen or do it box stock, both answers are right in my head. Short end to this is that I may have a full kit available mid summer.

Agree with all above . This looks great. I have tried flocking but I am going to practice on a few things and do this. Thanks for sharing the idea ! I have received Pack 5 ( 29-37) so I have some time, not sure what step this comes in. 12/30/22 I ordered and have received some flocking supplies. I thought the Bright Red was too much from this vendor and the Cardinal Red was too dark, mixing them gets me closer to where I want to be. I am going to practice on some random objects before the pack with the seats come . The red mix in the cup is closer but needs some fine tuning.

Thanks, I was hoping to not have to ID them by length and thread pitch/type. On the bright side I will have a nice assortment of tiny fasteners for other custom projects.
