  4. Today's arrival. Getting pretty sick of having to go through the instructions step by step and "take inventory" just to see if everything is there.

  6. Yup. Had the same issues both with the oil pump (left side) and the 2 fuel pumps (right side). They put too much force on the connections and the quality control on the cable coating is not consistent enough to always fit into the ferrules provided. Some of mine were a full.15mm larger than the ID of the ferrules. Swapped in some KS Metals aluminum tubing and some 49 strand shark fishing leader to get to where it was at least manageable. I have extra pump tops for both the oil and fuel pumps if you or anyone else wants to go that route.
  7. Love the braided hoses and fittings. The right side of the fuel system kicked my butt. Ended up just modifying the tops of the pumps to take the lines from the splitter. Not authentic but was within my skill level (this is my first ever scale model) and looks OK for the level of detail I'm shooting for.. Hope someday be able to work at the detail level of your builds, fantastic.
  8. Finally got back to this build and taught myself some basic flocking. Overall I am pleased and I think it was well worth the effort and cost to do this.

  10. Today, I have reached the stage where these are included. Doing the whole inlet tube would be a bit trickier, but the "trumpet bell" is pretty straightforward. These are some test prints with a quick and dirty Fusion360 model. Not perfect for sure, but I think this will work out fine. Next version can be a bit slimmer with a better surface finish. The yellowing on the last picture was me testing to see if I could "toast" the surface with a torch to get some yellowing effects.
  11. How about a Top Fuel Dragster? Any era, front or rear engine. Doug Kalitta's car has nice lines and bright livery, but old school front engine cars would be cool too. Don Garlits' Swamp Rat series maybe? The outrageous proportions of these beasts would be a treat to have in 1:8 scale.
  12. This is exactly why this forum and other like it are so useful! I had never heard of this technique . Thanks for expressing your ideas about how to possibly replicate this, even if theoretical at this point. Once I get to this stage (I am behind in assembling my packs due to video production) I may try this.
  13. Couple more items in here that are an EZ upgrade to more closely replicate an original. The gauge faces would be rotated so the "correct" reading would be at the top of the dial. i.e. If nominal operating water temp was 110c then the 110 mark on the dial would be at the top etc. This allows the driver (who is busy driving 200mph in the dark sometimes) to be able to just glance down and see if any of the gauges are not indicating straight up. With the vibration and frenzy it is almost impossible to actually read the values from the instruments. In addition to the red lever handle (required by the FIM) it would also have had the "E" label placed near it. This is a quick indicator to the marshals that it is the emergency cutoff switch. By pulling the handle straight back, it cuts all electrical power to the vehicle, if the handle is then rotated, it discharges the fire suppression.
  14. In step 38 we are " Fitting the left side frame, the OIL FILTER and the engine." In step 39 we are " fitting the right side frame and joining the FUEL line." This sure looks like we are dealing with the same "hose" (the wire rope style) in both steps. Did I miss something? Just looking for a sanity check on this one.
